More Productive and Sustainable Wheat with
DEMETRA Solutions
For years, Demetra Italia has been supporting farmers with targeted wheat solutions designed to reduce environmental impact while maintaining high productivity.
Our technical team has developed strategies to partially replace traditional nitrogen fertilizers (such as urea and ammonium nitrate) with more sustainable foliar products. This approach helps reduce the risk of nutrient leaching and groundwater contamination without compromising crop growth.
Following years of field trials, we can now recommend reducing top-dress nitrogen applications by replacing up to 30–40 kg/ha of nitrogen with dedicated foliar formulations.
The most effective strategy depends on several factors, including soil type, wheat variety, climatic conditions, and other agronomic considerations. Two Key Products:
- AZO-UP SF – Foliar fertilizer containing nitrogen, magnesium, and sulfur.

Recommended application: During the stem elongation stage, combined with fungicide or herbicide treatments, at 30–40 kg/ha.
- NITRO SLOW S – Slow-release nitrogen fertilizer.
It ensures a sustained nitrogen supply over the medium to long term, supporting healthy ear development.

Recommended application: During the heading stage, combined with fungicide or insecticide treatments, at 10 kg/ha.
Other DEMETRA products, including MARFOL SF, CREVITAL, and SOLAZON L, can be incorporated into the program to meet the specific nutritional requirements of the crop.
